Changing the landscape of Maternity care
We started Lucina Health Foundation in 2011 to address a growing problem with maternity care in the United States. America's maternity care system is higher in cost and lower in outcomes than 49 other industrialized nations.
There is a solution. It isn't radical. It isn't even new. The solution is already working in many parts of the world. While care options for pregnant women are limited in the United States, in most industrialized nations with better maternal and infant outcomes care is provided by integrated physician and midwife collaborative teams.
Our mission is to improve the delivery of maternal healthcare by providing the financial and intellectual capital required to create integrated, collaborative maternity practices which provide a birth experience that is safe and satisfying for all women.
Disruption and innovation will be the catalysts for a new form of maternal health delivery in which a balanced and economically viable model that puts the whole patient first will lower cost, increase care and protect thousands of mothers, infants and families in California and beyond.
